What is special about Bandhyali School? Pedagogy - The pedagogy emphasises cooperation rather than competition; the thrill of mastering a concept or skill as a motivating factor rather than fear of punishment and examination. It is based on an encouraging and affectionate teacher-child relationship in contrast to traditional authoritative image of the teacher resting on fear. Architecture - The building of the Bandhyali School is indicative of the school environment. The concentric circles of the school building were a result of serious budgetary constraints but also reflect lack of hierarchy in the school as well the approach to education that expands on the core of the child’s understanding. [ more ] As a Learning Centre for Others - Bandhyali School has also been acting as centre of learning for students as well as practitioners from its earliest days. The first group of students visited the school in 1994 to observe and understand an alternative method of school teaching. Government and non government organisations have visited the school from time to time to understand the model of education that we use as well as to take elements of this model to implement in their own educational programmes . . .
